Happy Tuesday everybody! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. You have probably seen this dress before and I now understand why it is so popular! It seriously is SO flattering on all body types. It is definitely a closet staple and you can style it so many ways. I styled it with this cardigan and these booties for a fall look. There is a good chance that I won’t be able to wear the cardigan during the day for awhile longer seeing as how it’s still 90 degrees in Houston! HURRY UP COLD WEATHER! It comes in multiple colors, TEN to be exact, and I bought it in 2 others! Oops! It will definitely be on repeat the next few months!
What’s everyone doing this weekend?! Patrick and I are headed to College Station for the A&M vs. South Carolina game! Patrick grew up in South Carolina up until high school so he grew up a gamecock fan! Although he graduated from Texas A&M and is an Aggie, he roots for the Gamecocks when they aren’t playing the Aggies 😉 It is always a fun weekend because both my family and his family get to spend the weekend together!
I hope everyone has a great week! If you have any questions or want to see something specific on the blog, please reach out to me! I love hearing from you all!
Happy #WeddingWednesday! I can’t believe it’s only Wednesday! Wednesday’s are bad because they mean we are only halfway through the week but also SO good because it means we are halfway through the week! If that makes any sense at all 😉
Do y’all ever have trouble deciding what to wear to weddings? I seriously have the hardest time deciding what to wear. Do I go nice? But what if I’m too nice? What if I’m underdressed?! My rule of thumb is always to go the more dressy route. I would so much rather be overdressed than underdressed. I really wish people would send examples of what they want you to wear in their invitations! Wouldn’t that be so nice?! Haha! I always try to dress off the invitation. If the invitations looks nicer than I go for a more formal look and if it looks more casual then I go the more casual route. I also always like to check the wedding website to see if they put what attire you should wear on it. As a last resort, you can always ask the bride or groom!
This dress I am wearing it perfect for dressier weddings! You could even dress it down by wearing wedges or even the right pair of booties! Unfortunately, I couldn’t find it online but it’s from Nordstrom and I am OBSESSED! It fits so well. I paired it with this clutch and these heels!
So being that Patrick and I are getting married in January in Texas, it could either be sunny and 75 degrees outside like it was this past year or 35 degrees and snowing like it has also been in the past! Y’all, we are literally just throwing our hands up and saying “Jesus, take the wheel” and give us good weather! So seriously, we appreciate all the weather prayers we can get for that day! I am going to put different dress options for each season below!
So I actually have 3 weddings to go to between now and then end of the year! One of them I am a bridesmaid so I don’t have to worry about a dress for that one but the other two I will be just attending. For fall weddings, I would say definitely go off the invitation and weather outside! For a more casual wedding you could wear something like this and for a more formal wedding you could go with something like this!
For winter weddings, a long sleeve dress like this one would be perfect. You can wear heels with any dress to dress it up or boots to dress it down!
As always, if you have any questions or want to see something specific, feel free to reach out to me!
HI! I hope everyone has had a great Thursday! Be happy because tomorrow is FRIDAY! I don’t know if it’s just me, but this week feels like it is never going to end! On the bright side, Patrick and I are going to Dallas this weekend for cake testing, and I’m so excited! Getting to try all different flavors of cake sounds like a dream to me!!
Super excited to share this sweet potato recipe with you all today! I am a huge fan of sweet potatoes in general but these literally taste like heaven and aren’t bad for you! Let’s be honest, I normally would load my sweet potato with butter, brown sugar and marshmallows but I now prefer these! They’re also super easy to make so it’s a win-win!
2 sweet potatoes (peeled and cubed into 1 inch cubes)
Place garlic, oil, butter, salt, parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning in a large ziplock bag and mix well
Throw in sweet potatoes and shake until well coated
Place aluminum foil on cookie sheet and lightly spread out evenly
Bake for 18-22 minutes
Serve warm and sprinkle with dried parsley if desired
Seriously, everyone needs to try these! They are the best. I make these almost every time we have friends over for dinner and everyone so far has loved them!
Now, this top I have on gives me major heart eyes!! Its perfect for now and in the fall and I am obsessed with all things in the waffle material. The shorts I have on..let’s just say you all probably thing I only own one pair of shorts but I just can’t stop wearing them! They are the best material and longer in the back so your booty doesn’t hang out! Unfortunately they are sold out so I linked similar ones below! I paired this outfit with these booties that I will be wearing alllllll fall long and my fave Barrington Gifts bag!
I’m gonna apologize now for the amount of pictures. I just couldn’t help but want to share!
Happy #WeddingWednesday! I am so excited to start this series. I’ve learned so much already about the wedding planning process and am so excited to share it all with you! OK I know I got a little crazy with the pictures but I love them all so much and couldn’t wait to share them! Whether you are getting married, about to get engaged, or even have friends getting married and don’t know what to wear, I am going to cover it!
Today I am talking engagement pictures! This was one of my favorite things to do so far. When Patrick and I got engaged in January, I immediately knew who I wanted to use as our photographer, Kristen Davis with Kristen Davis Photography. She is a dear friend of my family’s and I trust her with my heart and knew she would give me exactly what I had in mind. I literally called her the day after we got engaged and told her that I didn’t have a date or a venue but I knew I wanted her as our photographer! I decided that I wanted it to be warm and sunny outside when we took our engagements so we decided to wait until March for our first session and June for our second session. Patrick, my fiancé, was living in Minnesota at the time for his job training so we had to split it up into two weekends. The first session we did was in McKinney and I absolutely LOVED them. We ended up finding this old abandoned barn and they turned out to be my favorite pictures. The second location we chose was College Station. Patrick played college baseball at Texas A&M, so we decided that we wanted some on Olsen Field because baseball is how we met! Our second session of that day was also done in College Station, under the Century Tree. If you have no idea what the Century Tree is, you can read about it here!
Deciding what to wear for engagements was seriously a struggle for me. So many people told me to wear all nice clothes but Patrick and I are such laid back people that I wanted something a little more casual as well. I decided that I would wear more casual in McKinney because it is such a small town with a small town feel and dress up a little more for the Century Tree pictures. I am so glad I went with both!
My advice is definitely stay true to yourself when you are deciding what to wear, or go with both like we did! When shopping, I honestly just looked for stuff that I would normally wear! I didn’t want to look back at these pictures and think “OMG what in the world was I wearing?!” One question I asked myself multiple times was, “Am I supposed to wear white?” I decided to wear the white romper mainly because I wanted to match Patrick for the field pictures without wearing maroon! Although white is the color most brides think they HAVE to wear, it is definitely not a must! Some people might hate themselves in white and that is totally fine! It might wash some of you out in pictures which is definitely something you do not want! I am so glad I did both looks (casual and dressier), and even more glad that we decided to do one with the dogs! It’s one of my favorite pictures! If only it was video’d and you all could see how much of an absolute NIGHTMARE it was trying to get all three dogs to look at the camera! Haha!
A other couple pieces of advice I received from others, and am SO glad I did, was wear more makeup than usual and get a tan! A spray tan can seriously change the whole look of the picture. I heard the saying once, “If you can’t tone it, tan it”, and that is seriously my life motto 😉 I feel like I look so much better with a tan. Wearing more makeup doesn’t mean you have to cake it on your face and look like a clown, it just means to wear a little more so it looks like you are done up in the pictures!
I hope you all enjoyed the first #WeddingWednesday series on the blog! I am so excited for the future posts I have planned. If you want to see something specific on the blog or something specific featured on the future wedding posts, please reach out to me or email me!
I am super excited to share that I will be starting a new series on the blog starting tomorrow..Wedding Wednesday’s! I am less than 6 months away from my own wedding on January 27, 2018 and have learned so much about the whole wedding planning process already! I will be sharing my experiences, vendors, tricks I have found to help the planning process, things to wear to fall and winter weddings and more along the way!
As you can tell, I definitely don’t follow the whole “no white after Labor Day” rule. 😉 I’m not gonna lie..when I first saw this shirt on the hanger I immediately thought hell no. I then looked it up online and thought to myself, “OK it’s way more cute on than on the hanger” so I decided to try it on. I was obsessed to say the least when I put it on. It fits so well and is the perfect length to wear with jeans or even a jean skirt! I love the way it wrap ties and the bow actually stays when you tie it. I paired it with white jeans and nude heels for a super classy look.
I hope everyone is having a great week!! If you have any questions or want to see something specific feel free to reach out or email me!
