Hi Friends! It’s Wednesday which means another #Wedding Wednesday Post! Wednesday also means we are halfway through the week! YAY! I have had a lot of people ask me about reccomendations to wear to your own wedding shower. I am going to answer a few of the questions I have received from you all about bridal shower attire! I am the first girl in my family to get married so I have had to figure out a lot on my own! Google can only help so much so I wanted to share what I have found and the advice I have for other brides!
Do I have to wear white to my bridal shower?
White is definitely the classic bride color, but I definitely don’t think that it is a must that you wear it! I was talking to my mom about this and she said it was never a thing when she got married that the bride always wear white. In my opinion, it does make you stand out if you are wearing white. The color white is associated with the bride and people will definitely know you are the bride in white and typically no one else will show up in white. If you can’t find a dress in white or ivory that you like then a dress with a white or ivory base with a pattern would be perfect too.
What do I wear?
I think a dress and heels is the best thing to wear to your shower. A romper would also be cute! If your shower is not as dressy, jeans and a pretty white top and heels would be perfect. The easiest way to decide what to wear is by determining the theme of your shower and deciding if it is formal or informal. You can determine this by looking at your invitation and talking to the host of the shower. Another way to decide this is by looking at the venue. My personal opinion is that it is always better to be overdressed than underdressed. No one wants to show up to their own shower underdressed, am I right?!
Do I have to wear heels or can I wear sandals or flats?
This is definitely your own person preference! If you like to wear heels or wedges, then I say go for it! I always feel more dressed up with I have on a good pair of shoes! If you are the type that hates heels and only wears flats, then I definitely wouldn’t wear them! You don’t want your feet to be uncomfortable and don’t want to be out of your comfort zone at your own shower.
Rule of Thumb
White or creme are good colors to wear because they differentiate you from the rest. If you prefer other colors, then go for it! There are definitely no rules that you HAVE to follow. This is your day and you should wear what you feel best in. BUT, definitely avoid black because it is more of a mourning color.
Definitely choose something for your shower that you are comfortable in and that you feel beautiful in. You don’t want to look back at pictures and think to yourself, “What in the world am I wearing?” Whether it be a dressy or casual dress, jeans and a top, romper or just a sundress, be comfortable and feel confident in what you’re wearing 🙂 This is definitely a time where you can dress up and I never turn down a chance to dress up!
I hope this post can help all of you future brides!
