Gifts for the Men in Your Life

Happy almost weekend! If the men in your life are like Patrick and my dad, I’m sure you get the same answer when you ask them what they want for Christmas which is, “I don’t really know. I don’t need anything.” Y’all, this is the most annoying thing ever! I so wish they would just tell me exactly what they want! It is always fun to shop for them but also super hard to decide what to get them! I wanted to share with y’all some of my favorite picks of gifts to get for the men in your life! I hope this makes things a little easier on you when deciding what to get them! If your man tells you exactly what you want, I so envy you!

Chicken Cordon Bleu Recipe

Happy Wednesday! Y’all, I made this recipe for dinner a couple nights ago and it was SO good! It’s also super easy and doesn’t take long to make at all! I will definitely be making this again soon! Even Patrick liked it, so that’s a win in my book!

Ingredients for Cordon Bleu:

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

16 slices Swiss cheese

1/2 pound slice ham

1 cup flour (I used gluten free flour)

4 eggs

2 cups panko bread crumbs (I used gluten free bread crumbs)

Ingredients for creamy Dijon sauce:

2 tablespoons butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

3 tablespoons flour (I used gluten free flour)

2 cups milk

1/4 cup dijon mustard

1 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Directions for Chicken Cordon Bleu:

  1. Sprinkle the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, tossing to coat evenly
  2. On a cutting board, place a chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound until about 1/2 inch thick with meat mallet, rolling pin or heavy pan
  3. Remove the plastic wrap and place a layer of Swiss cheese, then ham, then one more layer of Swiss cheese
  4. Evenly roll the chicken, and place onto a new sheet of plastic wrap
  5. Wrap the chicken in the plastic wrap, twist the excess plastic, and roll the chicken while twisting the sides in to tighten and firm up the roll on chicken cordon bleu. Tie the excess and chill in the fridge to set for 30 minutes
  6. After the rolls are set, prepare large, wide dishes with flour, beaten egg, and bread crumbs, and dredge the chicken in the flour, egg, and bread crumbs
  7. Place the breaded chicken cordon bleu in a 325 degree pot of oil, and cook about 5 minutes per side or until the outside is an even golden brown. If a good color is acheived and the chicken’s center is still not 165 degrees, you can finish the chicken in the oven at 325 degrees until that temperature is reached

Directions for Creamy Dijon Sauce:

  1. In a small pot on medium heat, melt the butter and cook the garlic until soft
  2. Add in flour, and whisk for 1 minute
  3. Add in the milk, and whisk until fully combined with the roux. Continue whisking until the mixture comes to a simmer and has thickened
  4. Add in the Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese. Whisk to combine. Set aside
  5. Slice the chicken and drizzle with Dijon sauce.
  6. Enjoy!

Definitely try this recipe out! I promise it’s so good!! In case you missed it, make sure you check out my gift guide I posted last week on gifts for her here! Keep an eye out for tomorrows post on gifts for him! Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone is having a great week!

Bachelorette Weekend Recap

It’s wedding Wednesday! This past weekend was my bachelorette weekend and let me tell you, we had an absolute blast! My bridesmaids, house party, my mom, Patrick’s mom, my aunt and I met in Austin for the weekend. We stayed in this house and it was perfect! We had more than enough room and there were 14 of us total! My sister made our shirts and our party favors. She made us sleep shirts for our shirts and they are so comfy! If you need anything made, feel free to reach out to me for her contact information! Our hangover kits came from Etsy from Daws and Gray. Courtney was SO easy to work with and the kits were so cute and such great quality. I definitely recommend using her. She has so many different things!

Friday Night:

Friday we all got there around 5. A few of them got their earlier to decorate and did such a good job! The theme of the weekend was fiesta and they decorated perfectly to match that! We got the cutest “nacho average fiesta” napkin from Etsy. They came from Sprinkle Social. She has so many different cute things for parties! We had tacos for dinner that night and then got ready to go to Pete’s Piano Bar. If you have not been here, I definitely recommend it! We had so much fun and it was nice to be able to sit and talk and listen to the music without having to go bar hopping! We got there at 8PM and didn’t leave until 1AM and had so much fun the whole time. Make sure to try their pineapple fish bowl drink 😉

On Saturday, we woke up and had breakfast at the house and then got ready for the aerial class. We went to Sky Candy Austin for the aerial class and this was hilarious! We each got turns on each apparatus and let me tell you, this was wayyyyy harder than I expected! Definitely have a lot of respect for people who do this because you have to be in such good shape! After the class we went back to the house and had burgers for lunch. We rested and everyone showered and got dressed for the night. We had dinner at Iron Cactus which was perfect because they had gluten free stuff that I was able to eat. Their margaritas were super good too! After dinner we went back to the house to freshen up and this is when I opened my gifts from everyone! From their, we took a party bus to sixth street downtown. I was so not about going to sixth street at first but we ended up having a great time. It was definitely not something I would do every night but it made for a fun girls night! We bar hopped to a few different bars and then when we were ready to go home, the bus was there and ready to take us home! The party bus was definitely worth the investment. We used Limos of Austin and the bus was great!

On Sunday we got up and picked the house up and left for brunch! We had Black Walnut Cafe, which I super recommend for gluten free people because they have the BEST gluten free pancakes! After breakfast we said our goodbyes and headed home!

I could not have asked for a better weekend with all of my favorite girls! This weekend made me that much more excited for the wedding because we are one step closer! If you have any questions about anything, feel free to reach out!

Mustard Yellow Sweater + Skirt

Sweater: H&M | Skirt: H&M | Boots: Similar

If you couldn’t already tell from Snapchat and Instagram, I had the BEST weekend! My bridal party and I went to Austin for my bachelorette weekend and had the time of our lives. Stay tuned for a new Wedding Wednesday post this Wednesday all`1 about what we did!

I decided to carry the fiesta theme of my bach party into this week with this skirt and sweater! I am obsessed with the mustard yellow color right now. Every time I go shopping, I find myself picking out everything in this color! It’s the best for fall. This sweater is so cute with really any bottoms! The skirt is a woven pattern and I love all the colors in it! Everything fits TTS too!

So funny story about these boots..I wore the ones in this picture to take pictures and when I came home I had them in a bag that I set on our bedroom floor. Remi, our yellow lab, stays out now when we leave and she has been doing so well with not chewing anything up! So I left to go run an errand and came back home and she had pulled the boots out of my bag and chewed them up. I really wanted to cry LOL. I couldn’t get mad at her though because I was the one that left them out for her to reach! So I needed a new pair of black over the knee boots and decided to get these! They are super comfortable and I love the tie in the back because it helps them stay up and not fall down while you wear them. Did I mention they’re under $100!!

I hope everyone had an awesome Monday! I took today to recover and do stuff around the house. It was much needed!
