Mother’s Day is in 4 days and I can’t wait to spoil my mom! I seriously don’t know what I would do without her! She is my rock and truly my best friend. Throughout the years, I have learned SO much from my sweet momma so I wanted to share three of my favorite things with you guys!
- Mom Always Knows Best: Y’all, it doesn’t matter if you’re 5 or 55, your mom ALWAYS knows best! I cannot stress this enough. Anytime I had a problem or needed advice, she was always right. I never believed her when she said that until now! She always knew who my true friends were, knew what kind of prom dress would look the best on me, knew when I was lying about something being wrong and so much more. When I was picking out my wedding dress, my mom actually found it and picked it out. I was so against trying it on but she begged me to do so, so of course I did. Once again, she knew best. I fell in love with it!
- You have to make yourself happy before you can make others happy: This was HUGE for me when I finally understood it. From my freshman year of high school to my freshman year of college, I dated a guy and was treated like dirt. For four years I didn’t understand how unhappy I was. I thought I was in love, but boy was I wrong. My mom would ask me all the time why I thought I was so happy and I could never once answer her. Throughout those years, I lost great relationships with friends and family and was in such a blur all the time. I was truly just living to make that relationship work. After finally realizing how bad of a situation I was in and breaking up with him, it was like my life did a total 360. I woke up happy and went to bed happy. I remember my mom telling me how much different I was. After the breakup, I promised myself that I wouldn’t get into a relationship for atleast a year. That year, all I did was work on myself. I dated, had endless girls nights, and did exactly what I wanted to do. Exactly 9 days after the year was up, I met Patrick and the rest is history! You truly cannot be happy with others around you until you are happy with yourself!
- Be Yourself, ALWAYS: This one is my favorite. There are so many people who try to live other’s life. Whether it’s style, likes and dislikes, food, hobbies, etc., YOU DO YOU! My mom always told my sister and I to just be ourselves. She knew when we were doing something to fit in and always did her best to steer us to do what we wanted to do. My sister and I always knew that God made us and there is NO one in the world like us. Embrace it!
These are just a few of the things I have learned from my mom. My favorite part about my mom is that she always speaks her mind and will never beat around the bush. She is truly the nicest person, and would do just about anything for anyone. I am so grateful that God chose me to be her daughter.
