Hello friends! 13 days until Christmas! Can you believe it?! I swear just yesterday it was January. It amazes me how fast this year has gone by! It amazes me even more that we are 45 days away from our wedding!! I am SO excited for our wedding day to be here.

Like everyone else, I am obsessed with Christmas decor. Every year, I might go slightly overboard but I love it! When Patrick and I moved to Houston in July, we decided to rent a house for a year since we weren’t sure how long we would be here with his job. Y’all, when I say we couldn’t find a house to save our lives, I mean that with no exaggeration. Patrick was living in Minnesota at the time for his job training so I was finding a house for us by myself! It came down to the last week before we were supposed to move and I finally found our house. It has been a great house for us for this year, but we definitely want to buy something after our lease is up that is more updated and more open! This year for Christmas, I didn’t go as all out as I usually do because I had a hard time finding a way to put all my normal stuff out in this house, but I did what I could and I love it all! My sweet mama gave Patrick and I the star that her and my dad had at the top of their first Christmas tree, and also a few pieces of her snow village so that I could start a collection of my own! Our snow village has been passed down from my grandma, to my mom and now to my sister and I. It is SO special to me! Most of my Christmas decorations came from Target, World Market, Home Goods and Hobby Lobby. I have linked everything that I could find for y’all below!

I hope everyone has a great rest of your week!

Chicken Cordon Bleu Recipe

Happy Wednesday! Y’all, I made this recipe for dinner a couple nights ago and it was SO good! It’s also super easy and doesn’t take long to make at all! I will definitely be making this again soon! Even Patrick liked it, so that’s a win in my book!

Ingredients for Cordon Bleu:

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

16 slices Swiss cheese

1/2 pound slice ham

1 cup flour (I used gluten free flour)

4 eggs

2 cups panko bread crumbs (I used gluten free bread crumbs)

Ingredients for creamy Dijon sauce:

2 tablespoons butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

3 tablespoons flour (I used gluten free flour)

2 cups milk

1/4 cup dijon mustard

1 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Directions for Chicken Cordon Bleu:

  1. Sprinkle the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, tossing to coat evenly
  2. On a cutting board, place a chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound until about 1/2 inch thick with meat mallet, rolling pin or heavy pan
  3. Remove the plastic wrap and place a layer of Swiss cheese, then ham, then one more layer of Swiss cheese
  4. Evenly roll the chicken, and place onto a new sheet of plastic wrap
  5. Wrap the chicken in the plastic wrap, twist the excess plastic, and roll the chicken while twisting the sides in to tighten and firm up the roll on chicken cordon bleu. Tie the excess and chill in the fridge to set for 30 minutes
  6. After the rolls are set, prepare large, wide dishes with flour, beaten egg, and bread crumbs, and dredge the chicken in the flour, egg, and bread crumbs
  7. Place the breaded chicken cordon bleu in a 325 degree pot of oil, and cook about 5 minutes per side or until the outside is an even golden brown. If a good color is acheived and the chicken’s center is still not 165 degrees, you can finish the chicken in the oven at 325 degrees until that temperature is reached

Directions for Creamy Dijon Sauce:

  1. In a small pot on medium heat, melt the butter and cook the garlic until soft
  2. Add in flour, and whisk for 1 minute
  3. Add in the milk, and whisk until fully combined with the roux. Continue whisking until the mixture comes to a simmer and has thickened
  4. Add in the Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese. Whisk to combine. Set aside
  5. Slice the chicken and drizzle with Dijon sauce.
  6. Enjoy!

Definitely try this recipe out! I promise it’s so good!! In case you missed it, make sure you check out my gift guide I posted last week on gifts for her here! Keep an eye out for tomorrows post on gifts for him! Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone is having a great week!

Mustard Off-The-Shoulder Sweater + Honey Bun Cake

Sweater: BP Shoes: Sam Edelman Shorts: Express Crossbody: Tory Burch

Y’all, I’m so ready for the cold weather!! I swear people are looking at me like I’m crazy right now because I’m wearing sweaters and shorts but I just love fall clothes so much! This sweater is perfect for transitioning into the cooler months. It’s so cute with shorts right now and with pants when it’s not 90 degrees outside. The mustard color is such a trendy color right now. I never thought I would like it on me until I put the color on and now I seriously want to buy every thing I see in this color! It’s super light and airy so you won’t get too hot in it wearing it now!

Now let’s talk about these mules I paired with it. I am obsessed and they’re on SALE. They are super comfortable and seriously go with anything. I am such a fan of the print. They’re definitely a pair of shoes that everyone needs in their closet for fall! The heel on them is gold and looks so adorable.

Okay so this recipe for honey bun cake I shared below is something that you all need to make ASAP! It’s so tasty! My bridesmaid Sara made it for my first wedding shower and I think I’ve made it three times since then. I told her it’s her fault for introducing it to me if I don’t fit in my wedding dress. I make it gluten free and it still is SO good. It’s perfect for breakfast or for a sweet snack!

Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 box yellow cake mix

4 eggs

3/4 cup vegetable oil

1 stick melted butter

4 tbs sugar

1 cup milk

MIX THESE INGREDIENTS TOGETHER (I used my Kitchen Aid mixer and it made mixing so easy!)

In a separate bowl, mix..

3/4 cup brown sugar

4 tsp cinnamon

Make it:

Pour 1/2 cake mix batter into greased 9X13 pan

Sprinkle 1/2 cinnamon mixture over batter

Repeat steps 1 and 2

Swirl in with butter knife

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes

Icing:

1 cup powdered sugar

4 tbs milk

Drizzle icing over cake while still warm

I hope everyone has a great Monday! Feel free to message me or email me if you have any questions!
